Farmer Jack’s Lakeside Joondalup store, which opened in November 2018, has introduced an innovative new feature – a fresh seafood market now open Thursday to Sunday weekly.
Local Fresh Caught Seafood a Feature
Fred Fairthorne, owner of Farmer Jack’s, explained that the new facility would focus on freshly caught WA seafood, to ensure premium quality and experience and reinforce Farmer Jack’s “Love Fresh Local” approach.
The store has recruited experienced seafood buyer Brendan Byrne and fishmonger Brendan O’Leary to head up the innovative in-store experience, in which fresh seafood will be displayed on ice. The concept is modelled on the best seafood markets in Australia and around the world.
Produce for the store will be sourced directly from fishermen in locations including the Kimberley region, ensuring a shorter time from ocean to plate.
Healthy Focus and Quality a Priority
The addition of a seafood market to Farmer Jack’s Joondalup is just one of the specialty focuses of the locally owned Farmer Jack’s stores. The 11 stores around the Perth metropolitan area have built a reputation for offering an alternative to mainstream supermarkets with a focus on locally sourced produce.

The Joondalup seafood market is the first of its kind in Farmer Jack’s stores. The concept may be rolled out to more stores in the future.
