Moora Citrus is one of many innovative local orchards in WA. Located in the WA Wheatbelt, 12km from the town of Moora, the orchard produces oranges and mandarins, with a focus on delivering fresh eating citrus into the local market eight months a year.
With 210 hectares of trees, the project is a fully integrated operation – from growing the rootstock on location through to the harvesting and packing of the citrus to go to market.
The Moora Citrus orchard was developed to provide fresh, local citrus to the WA domestic market. The business has focused on developing sufficient scale to supply the local WA market with high quality fruit as a priority.
The future will see the orchard invest in more purpose built infrastructure onsite, including a packshed, boosting regional employment opportunities and stimulating the local economy. The packshed will also be available to other local horticulture projects to enable local picking, packing and supply directly into Perth markets.
Moora Citrus is also working with the local citrus industry in WA to target export opportunities in the Asian Pacific region, diversifying opportunities to provide high quality Western Australian citrus into premium markets.
